This limestone-faced home in Texas is inspired by the architecture of French châteaus and features a warm, traditional design. Built in 1965, the nearly 8,200-square-foot limestone-block home is based on an existing château in France, said Darrell Schmitt, the interior designer. The owners maintained the home's layout, but asked Mr. Schmitt to liven up the interior. Cool colors 'in reaction to the hot Houston climate' and French wallpaper were used to give the space an 'updated traditional' feel.
