Everything and the Kitchen Sink

Some people don't just want the home: They want the towels, dishes, lamps—even, in one case, a toilet brush.

Terry Johnson sold his penthouse in Midtown Manhattan for $7 million last year in a deal that included practically all the furnishings—right down to the kitchen sponges, toilet brush and two jars filled with M&Ms.

"They wanted my liquor in my liquor cabinet, my spatula, my knife," says Mr. Johnson, who is an investor in an auto-related business. "I thought when people bought stuff in a place it was just the furniture."

For $7 mil. I'd want everything included too!

Important Wood Deck Maintenance Tips

Important Wood Deck Maintenance Tips

Mar/2013

Wood deck maintenance is an unavoidable task. Wood decks are preferred because of their warm, pleasing looks and element of natural beauty. However, wood being a natural material is prone to damage from the sun, rain and snow throughout the year. Every spring or fall, a thorough inspection of the wood deck is necessary to identify problems such as peeling paint or stain, rotting wood, mildew and dirt. Make it a priority to clean your wood deck every year and also perform the required maintenance.

The link below has some very helpful tip to keep your deck looking good for years to come.

Thermal Imaging

The infrared camera offers a non-invasive/non-destructive, means of monitoring and diagnosing the condition of buildings. Thermal cameras have been around for a while but with new technology and affordability they are a must have for professional home inspectors. The camera gives me the ability to see behind the wall coverings to tell if insulation is missing resulting in a hot room in summer, or if there is an active leak coming from a pipe in the ceiling. Prolook uses this great tool in all of our inspections at no extra cost.

Stone Manor in Houston

The wall street journal has this Houston mansion as their house of the day.

Price: $7,995,000
Location: Houston, TX
Type of Home: Detached Home

This limestone-faced home in Texas is inspired by the architecture of French châteaus and features a warm, traditional design. Built in 1965, the nearly 8,200-square-foot limestone-block home is based on an existing château in France, said Darrell Schmitt, the interior designer. The owners maintained the home's layout, but asked Mr. Schmitt to liven up the interior. Cool colors 'in reaction to the hot Houston climate' and French wallpaper were used to give the space an 'updated traditional' feel.

COOL FAN!

You never know what you'll find on an inspection. This one made my day. It's a ceiling fan in the shape of a WWII fighter plane. Does any one know where to buy these from?
